Insights on Incentives has as its sole purpose the facilitation of thought and discussion on the subject of incentive compensation for banks and credit unions.  Once a month NSS will be sending out an e-mail with one insight on the area of incentive compensation.  The insights will come from our research, discussion with customers and finally, those of you who decide to offer an insight on this important sales management issue.

Linking Performance to Strategy

“Individual performance expectations should have a logical linkage to the organization’s strategy and goals. The argument is that goal setting should start at the top and cascade level by level. People are more committed when they see how their efforts contribute to planned results”. This statement comes from the article by Howard Richer, Principal – Buck Associates, in the November/December 2008 of Compensation and Benefits Review. This reinforces our position of the power of using Performance Management Scorecards to drive excellence in your institutions. We ran a couple of webcasts on Building Scorecards and will run it again soon to facilitate best practices in deploying this key performance management tool in your bank or credit union.
